Upon arrival at Koh Samui you can rent a scooter, a car or even a bicycle. This will allow you to have your independence and to visit the many wonders of the island.
Driving Licence
As a tourist (for expatriates is different), to rent a car in Thailand (and Koh Samui) you will officially need a international driving license but often the police and your preferred car rental original permit. The owner or the police you may not be asked in case of control, but in case something better ensure his back.
About the law:
Wearing seat belts is compulsory in the front.
Wearing helmet is compulsory on motor bike
Drinking and driving: the maximum rate allowed is 0.5 g / l
About Insurance:
There are 2 types of insurance for vehicles.
- The Po-Lo-Bo compulsory insurance

- Optional insurance

4,500 Baht Per Month)
Honda PCX from 350 Baht Per Day (or

Yamaha Tmax 500 C.C from 1,000 Baht Per Day
Honda CBR250 from 1,000 Baht Per Day
Vehicles and prices vary from one agency to another. Feel free to compare. The choice of model, it looks at you, just know that there are models with automatic transmission and the other for manual transmissions.
Also note that some consumes gasoline and other diesel. If it is of the essence, consider asking the landlord what type of fuel it calls for the designation of fuel is not the same as you and you might lose.

A Koh Samui, the bike is to be considered a sport as a means of travel.
You do not see little to Koh Samui, in any case much less than motorcycles and scooters.
